LEGO Holiday Collections to Buy Before They Sell Out

If there’s a LEGO builder in your life, you’ve got lots of new gift options this holiday season. Every year since 2009, LEGO has added one set to its LEGO Winter Village Collection. This year’s addition? Santa’s Post Office. Plus, LEGO is releasing five other holiday-themed sets to ring in the 2024 yuletide.

When seasonal sets first launch, they’re available exclusively from LEGO.com or LEGO Stores. And they tend to sell out fast: Last year’s special seasonal build, a Christmas tree, was on back order by early December. These holiday sets usually don’t show up in general retail stores until the following season (when the next year’s new sets arrive). So, don’t expect sales.

That said, LEGO is also releasing six themed advent calendar sets for this year. (Themes include Spiderman, Disney princesses, Harry Potter, etc.) The advent calendar sets are available in retail stores, and sometimes they do go on sale. Right now, you can grab a few of them—like the LEGO Friends 2024 Advent Calendar and the Star Wars 2024 Advent Calendar—for 20% off at Amazon.

Best LEGO Holiday Collections to Shop 2024

LEGO’s Christmas offerings for 2024 range from a low-priced set of tree ornaments to an elaborate fir tree wreath with earthy pine cones and bright berries. Read on for all of this year’s options in LEGO’s build-it-yourself holiday decor.

LEGO Santa’s Post Office

If you’ve been collecting the sets in the LEGO Winter Village Collection each year, you’ve already bought some gingerbread houses, toy workshops and festive trains. This year’s set, Santa’s Post Office, is LEGO’s 16th addition. It follows last year’s Alpine Lodge.

Naturally, the snow-covered post office is brimming with letters to Santa, which go down a letter chute into a postal sorting area. Santa can read the letters in his cozy study next to a log fire.  A letter-ferrying hot-air balloon sits just outside, ready to take flight with an illuminating burner. With 1,440 pieces, this set is meant for ages 18 and up. But once it’s built, it’s ready for kids to enjoy with a Santa minifigure and four elf minifigures.

LEGO Santa’s Delivery Truck

Apparently, the folks at LEGO think Santa’s reindeer could use some help transporting gifts. Why else would they be releasing a Santa’s Delivery Truck set? This 224-piece set for ages 8 and up has adorable details like presents, a tiny Christmas tree toy, Santa’s sack and a cheerful elf minifigure in the driver’s seat.

LEGO Christmas Table Decoration

Do you plan to ask family members to help you set the holiday table? If so, you might direct someone to build the centerpiece. That helper can use this set to create a red candle with green foliage that’s dotted with berries and stars. While this 433-piece set is for ages 12 and up, you might also use it as a holiday group activity between the present opening and the feast-eating.

LEGO Poinsettia

When you finish building this intricate, 608-piece set (for ages 18 and up), you’ll have a realistic rendition of a ‘Grande Italia’ poinsettia plant in a brown flowerpot basket. You can arrange the five red bracts, green foliage and yellow cyathia in various positions and add the finished product to a mantel or side table for some colorful holiday decor.

LEGO Wreath

LEGO’s latest wreath is another adult building set—with 1,194 pieces. The end result can be either a wreath or a garland that simulates fir tree foliage. Then you decorate it with berries, orange slices, cinnamon sticks and pine cones. If this set’s $99.99 price tag is beyond your budget, you might opt for a past version of a LEGO wreath for $58 at Walmart.

LEGO Christmas Ornament Selection

LEGO has been allowing kids to build their own Christmas tree ornaments for years. In 2022, the ornament set included a penguin and a snowflake (which is no longer available at LEGO, but you can still buy it on Amazon for $35). Last year’s LEGO ornament set consisted of three gingerbread people. And this year’s 153-piece set contains a Christmas gift, a reindeer, Santa Claus and a snowman.

Retiring Soon: LEGO Home Alone House

Of course, you are hardly limited to LEGO’s 2024 holiday offerings. Since the company has been releasing yuletide-season sets for years, there’s a huge array of options to get you in the holiday spirit.

That said, LEGO does retire sets after a number of years, and the Home Alone house is scheduled for retirement at the end of 2025. So if you’ve always dreamed of building Kevin McCallister’s residence, you need to buy that one soon! This massive, 3,955-piece set allows you to recreate Kevin’s battle with the Wet Bandits throughout multiple rooms, from the attic to the basement!
