Cook Like a Reagan! Exclusive Chef Wahlberg’s‘Blue Bloods’ Dinner Recipes
Overview: Fans of the long-running CBS drama Blue Bloods can now enjoy the iconic Reagan family dinners at home. Chef Paul Wahlberg, brother of series star Donnie Wahlberg, has teamed up with Wahlburgers Restaurant Chain to create a series of recipes that align with the meals served during each of the final eight installments of the drama. This week’s Blue Bloods-inspired Reagan family dinner from Chef Wahlberg is roast sirloin with Harissa roasted potatoes and roasted green beans and carrots. With the end of Blue Bloods nearing, CBS teamed up with Wahlburgers Restaurant Chain to help viewers enjoy the beloved Reagan family dinners in their own homes. Chef Paul Wahlberg – brother of Blue Bloods star and New Kids on the Block alum Donnie Wahlberg, as well as Mark Wahlberg – is sharing recipes that align with the meals served during each of the final eight installments of the drama.

‘Blue Bloods’ Reagan Family Roast Sirloin Recipe
INGREDIENTS:
- 4 lbs. sirloin roast
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons canola oil
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 2 teaspoons chopped fresh rosemary
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 peeled Spanish onions, large dice
- 1 cup sliced carrots
- 4 celery stalks, large dice
- 5 garlic cloves, skin on
Pan Sauce:
- 1 cup red wine
- 4 cups beef stock (low sodium or homemade)
- 2 bay leaves
- 4 stalks fresh thyme
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Preheat oven to 325°F.
- Remove the sirloin from the fridge and let it rest for one hour to come to room temperature.
- Truss the beef with butcher’s twine, tying it five times evenly spaced.
- In a small bowl, combine rosemary, thyme, minced garlic, olive oil, salt, and pepper.
- Rub this mixture into the beef and let it stand for 10 minutes.
- Heat a large heavy-gauge roasting pan (enameled cast iron or similar) over medium-high heat. Add canola oil and sear the beef on all sides.
- After searing, place the carrots, garlic cloves, celery, and onions on the bottom of the pan. Place the beef on top.
- Cook the beef in the oven until it reaches an internal temperature of 125°F, about 45 minutes to an hour.
- Remove the pan from the oven, transfer the beef to a platter, loosely cover with foil, and let it rest.
- Place the roasting pan on a burner over medium-high heat. Add the wine and cook, scraping the bits from the bottom of the pan.
- When the wine has evaporated, add bay leaves, thyme, and beef broth. Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 20 minutes.
- Strain the pan sauce and check for seasoning.
- Remove the string from the beef and add any juices collected on the platter to the pan sauce. Slice and serve
‘Blue Bloods’ Reagan Family Harissa Roasted Potatoes
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 lbs. Yukon Gold potatoes, rinsed, scrubbed, and drained
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon chopped garlic
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 2 tablespoons harissa paste (or 1½ teaspoons harissa powder)
- 2 whole sprigs fresh thyme
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Preheat oven to 425°F.
- Cut the potatoes in half and toss in a large bowl with 1 tablespoon olive oil, salt, thyme, garlic, harissa paste or powder, and bay leaf.
- Place the potatoes cut side down on a sheet pan coated with the remaining 2 tablespoons olive oil.
- Roast in the oven for 25 minutes. Check potatoes by piercing them with a knife; if needed, cook for 5 more minutes.
- Let potatoes rest for 5 minutes, then toss with parsley and serve.
‘Blue Bloods’ Reagan Family Roasted Green Beans and Carrots
INGREDIENTS:
- 12 oz green beans, washed and ends trimmed
- 1½ lbs whole tri-colored carrots with tops, cut in half lengthwise (save the tops)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- 2 shallots, thinly sliced
- 1 teaspoon light brown sugar
Carrot Top Salmoriglio:
- Tops from the carrots, washed, picked, and finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- ½ cup olive oil
- 1 teaspoon chopped parsley
- 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
- ½ teaspoon lemon zest, chopped
- 1 shallot, julienned
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Place the carrots, shallots, and green beans in a large bowl. Season with salt and pepper.
- Mix olive oil, brown sugar, and melted butter, then pour over the carrots and green beans. Mix well and place on a sheet pan in a single layer.
- Roast in the oven until the carrots are cooked, about 20-25 minutes.
- While the vegetables are roasting, mix the carrot top Salmoriglio ingredients and season to taste. Refrigerate until ready to use.
- Place the cooked carrots and green beans on a platter, dress with the Salmoriglio, and serve.
