As we head into fall, the nostalgia for chic beauty trends of decades past is real. ‘80s makeup trends are creeping back into the mainstream, ‘90s-inspired lip liner is ever so popular, and retro updos are expected to continue to dominate. Speaking of, Lana Del Rey made a classic ’60s hairstyle all her own for her latest performance.
The 39-year-old performed at Rock En Seine (a Parisian music festival) on Aug 21, wearing a sophisticated Chanel tweed dress with glowy makeup. The best part? Her bouncy Bardot hairstyle which was, in Lana fashion, tied up in a pretty black bow.
Hairstylist Anna Cofone posted photos of the look to Instagram yesterday, calling the look “beauty queen style with a hint of bardot.” Del Rey’s latest looks have perfectly struck the balance between her country-coquette aesthetic and a timeless elegance. Cofone used Authentic Beauty Concept products to sweep Del Rey’s hair back into a voluminous Bardot poof, leaving the front pieces to frame her face. Peeking out of her hair was the centerpiece of the look, a black bow with a trailing lace veil.
Quick refresher: Actor Bridgette Bardot was known for her voluminous hair in the ’60s, and it became a French girl look that’s still iconic today. It features swoopy curtain bangs that flair to the sides and lots of volume at the crown of the head. Lana herself is no stranger to big hair, and has worn plenty of voluminous ’60s-inspired looks, especially early on in her career.
For her glam, Del Rey stuck to a less-is-more approach, donning her signature cat eye with glowy cheeks and a touch of lipstick, courtesy of makeup artist Pamela Cochrane. She also continued to work with stylist Molly Dickson, who fittingly dressed her in Chanel for her French performance.
Earlier this month, the Honeymoon singer donned a cute pearl coquette manicure which we added to our mood boards immediately. Now, we have a dreamy end-of-summer hairstyle to pair with it—we’re glad to see Del Rey’s in her beauty influencer era.
