Pluto in Aquarius – Power to the People

On November 19th, 2024, Pluto enters Aquarius.

When Pluto enters a new sign (and this only happens once every 20 years on average), our lives, and society as a whole change in unprecedented ways.

Pluto in Aquarius – We, The People

Pluto takes 248 years to circle the Sun. The last time Pluto was in Aquarius was between 1778 and 1798, a period of massive change.

The American Constitution was written when Pluto was in Aquarius.

The Constitution’s first three words – We the People – are perhaps the first modern expression of the “Aquarius entity”. This entity is not a king, a ruler, or a government.

This is exactly what the European settlers were running away from.

“We the people” is the people – an entity without a leader, an entity that self-governs and self-regulates according to the interests and well-being of everyone.

In Aquarius, it’s this plural entity that takes priority over individual concerns.

“We the People” is also a reminder that people’s representatives – rulers, governors, politicians, and policy-makers – are here to represent and serve their citizens.

If the cardinal sign of Capricorn, the other Saturn-ruled sign, represents the executive power – the president, the prime minister or the CEO – Aquarius is the Congress, the Supervisory boards, the Unions, and all other entities where people get elected to represent a large group of people, and quality-control the executive power.

Because Aquarius rules groups of people, and society is a large group of people, we say that Aquarius rules society as a whole. Society is a sum of all the individuals, plus all the multiple interactions between these people. Society is the most complex Aquarius system out there.

When you read the title of this email, “Pluto In Aquarius – Power to the people”, you perhaps rejoiced, thinking something along the lines of: “Great! no more power to the government, corrupt politicians, or greedy businesses … finally, power to ME”.

And the title is a bit ironic when we think of it this way, because “power to the people” doesn’t mean power to you, or to me, or to any other individual.

It doesn’t mean that we get to do whatever we want.

It means exactly that: “power to the people”, to that autonomous entity where the majority decides. This means that on average, half of the time, this is not what YOU want – it is what the majority wants.

This concept is very difficult to grasp, because even when reading this, most of us still think “Yes, of course, and what I want is what people want”. “I want equality, peace, justice etc, and this is what people want, too”.

The thought that power to the people is not necessarily a good thing for you is something to keep in mind, as the Plutonian Aquarification begins to unfold.

Pluto in Aquarius will expose what is rotten (Pluto) in our society (Aquarius) so that we can build a better structure and infrastructure for everyone here on Earth.

Like with any Pluto transit, it won’t be pretty at first.

But this process of a complete overhaul of the very fabric of society is very much needed – and it will be totally worth the intrusive workings of Plutonic transformation.

The result?

A more resilient, autonomous society that can self-regulate and quickly adapt to circumstances.

Pluto in Capricorn Vs. Pluto In Aquarius

Pluto has been in Capricorn since 2008. 2008 is when we had the big economic crisis, so we had a Pluto in Capricorn experience pretty much straight away.

Oftentimes, Pluto’s ingress into a new sign comes to correct the flaws of the previous transit. Pluto’s transit in expansive Sagittarius has coincided with the housing and economic bubble, rising inflation and interest rates, production outsourcing, and over reliance on foreign trade.

Pluto in Capricorn has fixed the interest rates issues, but of course, has created different types of issues, like too much consolidation of power at the top.

Pluto’s ingress into Aquarius in 2024 will most likely correct some of the excesses of Pluto in Capricorn.

The Capricorn Tower of Babel, the Capricorn house of cards, will most likely collapse, allowing for a reorganization and rescheduling of the centers of power, from the bottom up, rather than top-down.

If a country, or a business is ruled by a king, or an owner, all the decisions and everything that happens is pretty much one direction. From top to bottom.

Aquarius is not just top down, but is also bottom up, left to right, right to left, and everything in between. If Capricorn is the hierarchy model, Aquarius is the network model.

Pluto is the planet of power. With Pluto in Capricorn, the state/government/big institutions were ‘in charge’ and had all the power.

In Aquarius, we the people have the power, with the opportunities and obligations that come with it.

Pluto in Aquarius’ long-awaited promise of freedom is not a given – it must be earned.

It won’t happen automatically; it’s something that Pluto will help us create.

Is no longer an action item on the world leaders’ (Pluto in Capricorn) agenda; rather, it’s the result of cultivating self-awareness and autonomy within each and every one of us.

Pluto In Aquarius – Ghost In The Machine Or Machine In The Ghost?

As Pluto moves into Aquarius, we will likely see major developments in technology, but paradoxically, we may also feel a growing sense of alienation and a desire to return to simpler, more human connections.

Some predict that Pluto in Aquarius will push society deeper into AI and the metaverse, where we become increasingly detached from the physical world.

But the opposite may also happen – we may become so disconnected that we crave to return to our roots, to reconnect with our humanity.

Let’s not forget that Pluto first exposes what’s not working.

It’s Pluto in Capricorn – not Pluto in Aquarius – that brought us surveillance and control through digital means.

Capricorn (and the 10th house) is where we are most visible and subject to scrutiny. In this context, Pluto in Capricorn has manifested as an era of increased exposure and monitoring through technology.

No one knows the psychological impact of having cameras, surveillance devices, GPS, tracking systems almost everywhere we go. Almost everything we say and do is recorded somewhere.

Even if we don’t consciously think about it, this knowing is always somewhere in the back of our minds, influencing our behaviors and decisions many times in unconscious ways.

Another self-chosen surveillance device is our mobile phone. Our phone tracks our steps, interactions, and conversations, and photos are stored forever somewhere on the cloud. Being visible on social media subtly yet profoundly influences our behavior.

It’s interesting that the smartphone (iPhone) came onto the market in late 2007, aligned with Pluto’s ingress into Capricorn. This small device has changed our lives forever.

So when Pluto enters Aquarius, we will already be deeply entrenched in a culture of surveillance – whether it’s chosen (like mobile phones) or imposed.

This increasingly invasive digital presence may spark a growing trend toward digital detox, as people seek to break free from constant connectivity – or at least, find a balanced approach where personal freedom (a defining quality of Aquarius) is protected.

Pluto in Aquarius may not unfold as anyone imagines it to be. Pluto may bring technological advancements… but this is not the essence of the transit. A better way of putting it is that Pluto in Aquarius will transform our relationship with technology.

The good news is that Pluto makes supportive aspects with the outer planets. From 2025 until 2028, we’ll see a particularly auspicious configuration where Pluto in Aquarius trines Uranus in Gemini and sextiles Neptune in Aries, forming a minor trine.

This configuration is supportive, with Neptune in Aries at the apex, symbolizing a fresh start – a genesis of humanity.

Pluto in Aquarius will eventually help us find our true power. Not a power that seeks to control, take advantage of, and win; but a power that seeks to express one’s truth in a way that serves the best interests of humanity at large.
